FAQ Lash Extensions
What are lash extensions?
Lash Extensions are an exciting, new product and technique for thicker, longer, yet natural looking eyelashes. They are individual, synthetic hairs that look just like your own natural lash hairs. Eyelashes are extended through professional application of an individual synthetic eyelash onto one of your own natural eyelashes with a medical grade, FDA approved, semi-permanent, formaldehyde-free adhesive.
Applying extensions is a highly technical and skilled procedure. 120-350+ individual extensions will be applied to each eye for a total of 240-700+ lashes for a new set. Lash extensions are not strip lashes or multi-pronged, cluster lashes. They are virtually weightless and feel completely natural.
How do they work?
Individual lash hairs are attached to your individual lash hairs by our Master Lash Artist. Lashes stay attached until your lash sheds naturally. Your lash extensions can last up to 4-6 weeks depending on how well you take care of them and your own lashes natural growth cycle. Like your fingernails and the hair on your head, your individual eyelashes grow out on a continuous cycle of replenishment.
As your natural eyelashes, that are at the end of their growth cycle shed, it is necessary to add new extensions to maintain the fullness of your set. Maintenance or "fill" appointments are needed typically every 2-4 weeks. The average person has approximately 100-140 natural eyelashes on each upper eyelid. Each eye sheds 2-5 lashes a day, 3 on average. Your lashes completely replace in 8-10 weeks. By the 2 week fill time you will have lost at the least 42 lashes on each eye. This is why 2 - 3 week fills are recommended to retain a fuller lash line.
Are there different kinds?
The semi permanent eyelash extensions come in various colors, lengths, thickness and curves. We even have different colors to add in that compliment your eye color. It depends on what your starting with and what look you are trying to achieve. All lash services are customized to your wants and desires. You will love the open eyed, youthful look our lashes will give you!
Will they hurt my lashes?
When applied and cared for properly, extensions will not harm natural lashes. Care will be taken to not create excessive weight, thereby preserving the health of the natural lash. Proper "separation" steps during the application process allows each lash to grow independently of its neighboring lash. This is a critical process that ensures the health of your natural lash line. There is so much out Master Lash Artist can do for you!
How long does it take?
It takes 60-90 minutes to apply a new set of eyelash extensions properly. In and out under 2 hours! Our Master Lash Artist is highly skilled and very quick. Retouch or "fill" appointments take about 45 minutes. You can come as often as you like for retouches. In and out in an hour! All procedures will be performed away from other guests in our private area on a heated bed. Most clients fall asleep during the procedure.
How long do they last?
The life of the lashes depends on several factors. One being how well you take care of them. Meaning, not using mascara or lash curlers on them, not sleeping on your face and being careful while you wash your face. Lashes are similar to nails. They grow out. Lash extensions are attached to your individual lashes. At around eight to 10 weeks your lashes will completely replace themselves. With that being said, as they grow out, you'll start to see some sparse spots (without extensions) around the three week mark. You can get them filled, or you can choose to let them grow off on their own. Similar to letting a set of nails grow off.
What is the upkeep?
For fills, we prefer to see you on a 2 to 3 week basis, depending on the style of lash you desire. Volume lashes require more upkeep with bi-weekly fills. Classic can usually go 3 weeks between fills. The frequency between fills depends on how well the lashes are cared for, or you can choose to simply let them grow off.
